Magna secures European driver‑monitoring contract for mirror‑integrated system

Canadian automotive supplier Magna International won a contract to supply a driver and occupant monitoring system (DMS/OMS) to an unnamed European automaker. The award covers Magna’s mirror‑integrated solution, which places the camera, illumination and electronics behind the rear‑view mirror, allowing advanced safety functions without adding visible hardware to the cockpit.

Magna will provide both the hardware and the DMS software, designed to integrate with centralized compute architectures used in software‑defined vehicles. The contract reflects growing regulatory pressure in the European Union’s General Safety Regulation and aims to enable scalable deployment across multiple vehicle platforms and regions.
