Magnesia gymnasium assault leads to conviction of 18-year-old

An 18-year-old man has been convicted of assaulting a minor at a gymnasium in Surpi, Magnesia. The altercation reportedly began over the use of a piece of exercise equipment.

The victim sustained injuries to his face and neck, including swelling around the eyes, a bruised nose, and nosebleeds. Following the incident, the victim required an MRI due to severe headaches.

During the trial, witnesses provided conflicting accounts. One witness testified that the 18-year-old struck the minor with three punches after a dispute involving the defendant's 15-year-old brother. Conversely, a defense witness claimed the 18-year-old intervened only to protect his brother after the two minors began pushing the younger sibling. The defendant denied the charges, maintaining that he did not strike anyone.
