Magnesia: Man released with restrictions following child abuse allegation
A 41-year-old man has been released under restrictive conditions following allegations of the sexual abuse of a 9-year-old girl in Magnesia, Greece. The suspect was released after appearing before an investigating magistrate, with the primary restriction being a prohibition on approaching the minor.
The case surfaced on September 10, 2026, after the child informed her parents of the incident. Following the report, the victim was taken to a regional health center and subsequently to Volos General Hospital. She is currently receiving psychological support at Achillopoleio Hospital.
Defense lawyers for the accused maintain his innocence, stating that no substantive evidence was found during the initial proceedings to justify pretrial detention. They argue that the allegations are false and that the investigation will eventually prove his innocence.
