Magnesia Vice Governor appeals to prosecutor over student bus passes

The Vice Governor of Magnesia and Sporades, Anna Maria Papadimitriou, is appealing to the Volos Prosecutor to investigate whether the Regional Unit is responsible for the failure to issue student bus passes.

Approximately 200 students from the 10th Gymnasium of Volos and the 4th Gymnasium of Nea Ionia face uncertainty regarding their transportation to school. Sokratis Savelidis, Director of Secondary Education in Magnesia, has filed a report with the Prosecutor following the rejection of the necessary funding by the Magnesia Regional Unit.

Nikos Evangelinos, President of Astiko KTEL Volos, clarified that while there is no specific contract between the KTEL and the Region for these school routes, students can use regular services as standard passengers. However, they cannot utilize free transportation via student passes because the passes have not been issued. The Vice Governor maintains that free transport is subject to specific distance requirements, citing regulations that mandate a minimum distance of 2,500 meters for Gymnasium and Lyceum students.
