Magnitude 3.5 earthquake rattles Hall and Innsbruck area in Tirol, Austria

A shallow earthquake of magnitude 3.5 struck the Hall region in the Austrian state of Tirol early Saturday morning, around 06:40 local time, at a depth of about 8 km. The tremor was clearly felt in Hall, the city of Innsbruck and surrounding municipalities, waking many residents with a loud rumbling sound. Glasses clinked, windows and furniture shook, and small objects moved.

The Austrian seismic service Geosphere Austria reported only minor damage, such as fine hairline cracks in plaster and occasional façade fissures. No major structural damage was expected. Authorities invited residents to submit reports of any effects via the QuakeWatch Austria app or an online form.
