Magnolia police shoot armed suspect during traffic stop

Magnolia police officers shot an armed suspect during a traffic stop on Sugar Bend Drive late Saturday night. According to authorities, the incident began when a driver refused to exit his vehicle or provide identification.

An officer attempted to remove the driver from the car, at which point the driver allegedly reached into a door panel. After an unsuccessful attempt to use a Taser, the driver reportedly pulled out a pistol and aimed it at the officer. Two officers then fired multiple shots at the suspect.

Following the shooting, officers performed life-saving measures. The suspect was transported to a hospital and is expected to recover. He faces charges of Possession of Firearm by a Felon and has an outstanding warrant for fraud in Harris County. The Texas Department of Public Safety and the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office are investigating the incident.
