Former light‑heavyweight champion Magomed Ankalaev returns to the Octagon at UFC Abu Dhabi on July 25, headlining the main event against rising contender Bogdan Guskov. The bout, held at Etihad Arena in the United Arab Emirates, was arranged after original opponent Khalil Rountree Jr. withdrew with an injury, prompting Guskov to step in on short notice.

Ankalaev, who lost his title to Alex Pereira at UFC 320 by an 80‑second knockout, said his defeat was “an accident” and reiterated his desire for a trilogy bout with Pereira, adding, “I will be chasing that fight, no matter if it takes place at heavyweight or light heavyweight.” Guskov praised Ankalaev, stating, “For me, Magomed is the strongest guy in our division,” and argued that a victory would merit a title shot.

A win for Ankalaev would propel him back into contention for the light‑heavyweight belt, now held by Carlos Ulberg, while Guskov seeks to cement his place among the division’s top contenders.
