Małgorzata Pępek faces no sanctions after hospital queue scandal

Polish MP Małgorzata Pępek was accused of bypassing the normal waiting list for a specialist examination at a hospital in Żywiec, where the typical wait is about 23 months. The investigation revealed that she obtained the test three weeks after registering, far earlier than other patients.

The parliamentary club of the Civic Coalition (Koalicja Obywatelska) convened a collegium meeting, heard the MP’s explanations, and concluded that no disciplinary action would be taken. Party spokesperson Dorota Łoboda emphasized that the information presented did not confirm the media narrative and that health‑related details would remain confidential.

As a result, Pępek will face no consequences from her party despite public criticism and calls for accountability.
