MagSafe and Qi2 technologies enhance wireless charging efficiency

The evolution of magnetic wireless charging is being driven by Apple’s MagSafe system and the new universal Qi2 standard. MagSafe technology optimizes wireless charging for iPhone models, with power outputs varying by device. High-end models, such as the iPhone 18 Pro and Max, can reach a maximum power of 25W when using a 30W or higher power adapter. Other models, including the iPhone 16 series, achieve between 20W and 22.5W, while older models like the iPhone 12 and 13 are limited to 12W.

The Qi2 standard introduces a magnetic ring around the charging coil to ensure precise alignment, preventing energy loss through heat and accidental disconnection. This technology allows for charging speeds of up to 25W. New hardware, such as the UGREEN MagFlow 2-in-1 charger, utilizes this standard in a foldable design to provide portable, high-speed wireless charging for compatible devices.
