Magyar National Bank issues coins for Battle of Mohács anniversary

To commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Battle of Mohács, the Magyar National Bank (MNB) has released two special commemorative coins. The collection includes a 30,000 forint silver coin made of 925 fine silver and a 7,000 forint colored metal coin composed of a copper and nickel alloy. Both coins were designed by Zoltán Endrődy and are being issued in two batches of 5,000 pieces each.

In addition to the coinage, Magyar Posta has issued a commemorative stamp block in Mohács. These items serve to honor the soldiers and victims of the 1526 battle. The coins feature artistic motifs, including depictions of the Mohács National Memorial and historical imagery of riders and opposing forces. The bank noted that due to their limited production and artistic value, these coins are intended for collectors rather than daily circulation.
