Magyar Telekom expands gigabit network and posts profit rise in H1 2026
Magyar Telekom added 170,000 new gigabit‑capable access points in the first half of 2026, bringing the total to over 4.2 million gigabit‑ready endpoints nationwide. Outdoor 5G coverage for the residential population rose to 88%, moving toward the year‑end target of 99%.
The company completed the migration of its legacy 2G traffic to Yettel’s 2G network while maintaining service continuity. Mobile SIM subscriptions reached 6.6 million, optical broadband subscribers grew 10.3% to 1.1 million, and IPTV users increased 2.9% to 1.4 million. Average monthly mobile data usage climbed to 16.5 GB, a 20.7% year‑on‑year rise.
Financially, gross profit rose 2.3% to HUF 311 billion, EBITDA increased 1.6% to HUF 202.2 billion, and adjusted net profit grew 2.9% to HUF 113.7 billion, confirming the company’s 2026 guidance.
