MAHA activists criticize Trump's coal promotion for AI data centers

Nearly 200 activists from the ‘Make America Healthy Again’ (MAHA) movement have issued a letter criticizing President Donald Trump’s promotion of coal to power artificial intelligence data centers. The letter, signed by former staffers of Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., targets a 2025 executive order intended to boost coal usage despite pollution concerns.

The activists are urging the administration to prioritize renewable energy sources, such as solar and geothermal, instead of fossil fuels. The group expressed that while American leadership in AI and national security is vital, it should not result in a ‘more toxic burden for American children.’

Prominent figures involved in the mobilization include Zen Honeycutt, founder of Moms Across America, and Charles Eisenstein, a former speechwriter for Kennedy’s campaign. This development marks a significant rift between the diverse MAHA coalition and the Trump administration regarding environmental policy, occurring ahead of the November midterm elections.
