Mahakaleshwar Temple conducts Bhasma Aarti in Ujjain

The Bhasma Aarti ritual was performed at the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. During the ceremony, which took place in the early morning hours, priests conducted the ritual following Vedic chants and the permission of Lord Virabhadra.

The deity underwent 'Panchamrit' abhishekam using milk, curd, ghee, sugar, honey, and fruit juices. Following the camphor aarti, the sacred ash (bhasma) was offered to the Jyotirlinga. The deity was adorned with various ornaments, including a silver Sheshnag crown, Rudraksha malas, and traditional jewelry, and decorated with sandalwood and vermilion.

Large numbers of devotees gathered to witness the ceremony, with many waiting in queues since the previous night. According to tradition, the Mahanirvani Akhara provides the ash for the ritual. The temple administration maintained arrangements to manage the significant crowds of pilgrims visiting the holy site.
