Mahakaleshwar Temple holds Bhasma Aarti in Ujjain

Large numbers of devotees gathered at the Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain for the Bhasma Aarti during the Shravan month.

During the rituals, the deity was adorned in the form of Lord Ganesha, featuring elaborate decorations with bhang and sandalwood. The ceremony included the traditional abhisheka using panchamrit—a mixture of milk, curd, ghee, honey, and fruit juice—followed by the Bhasma Aarti performed with drums, cymbals, and conch shells.

As per tradition, the Bhasma Aarti is offered by the Mahanirvani Akhara. Devotees observed traditional dress codes, with men wearing dhoti-sola and women wearing sarees, to witness the ceremony.
