Mahakaleshwar Temple holds major religious processions and rituals in Ujjain

The Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain is observing significant religious ceremonies, including the final Rajsi Sawari of the Shravan-Bhadrapada months and the traditional Bhasma Aarti.

The Rajsi Sawari, scheduled for September 7, will feature Lord Mahakal in six different forms, including Shri Chandramaureshwar on a silver palanquin and Shri Manmahesh on an elephant. The procession will travel through various locations, including Ramghat for rituals involving the Shipra River, and Gopal Temple, where the Scindia State will perform worship. The event is expected to include 73 bhajan mandalis and displays related to Simhastha 2028.

Additionally, the Bhasma Aarti was performed on September 6, featuring elaborate decorations with Tripund and Rudraksha malas. The ritual involves the offering of sacred ash and Panchamrit, following traditions maintained by the Mahanirvani Akhada. Large numbers of devotees gathered to witness the ceremonies.
