Mahakaleshwar Temple holds sacred Bhasma Aarti in Ujjain
During the holy month of Shravan, large numbers of devotees gathered at the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple in Ujjain to witness the sacred Bhasma Aarti. The ritual involved the traditional bathing of the deity with Panchamrit, consisting of milk, curd, ghee, sugar, honey, and fruit juices, followed by the application of sacred ash.
The deity was adorned with decorations made of cannabis, sandalwood, vermilion, and various dry fruits. Rituals included the wearing of a silver Sheshnag crown and Rudraksha garlands. Olympian shooter Manu Bhaker was among the devotees present, expressing her satisfaction with the temple's management and expressing her prayers for divine blessings.
The Bhasma Aarti is performed during the Brahma Muhurta, a period considered highly auspicious in Sanatan Dharma due to the high levels of positive energy in the atmosphere.
