Mahakaleshwar Temple security breach leads to clash and injuries

A violent confrontation occurred at the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga Temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, on Wednesday when a group of Kanwar pilgrims allegedly breached security barricades. The group, reported to be between 40 and 100 individuals, attempted to bypass designated routes and enter the Nandi Hall and the inner sanctum without authorization.

The incident resulted in injuries to several security personnel. Reports indicate that the confrontation caused barricades to collapse and led to the displacement of donation boxes. At least four to six security guards sustained injuries, with some reportedly suffering serious wounds to their heads and legs, requiring immediate medical attention.

Local police intervened to restore order and transported some individuals to the Mahakal police station. The Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee stated that they are working to identify those involved and will take legal action. Authorities are currently reviewing CCTV footage to assist in the investigation.
