Mahama Ayariga's stance on anti-LGBTQ+ Bill may have led to leadership change

Legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has suggested that Mahama Ayariga’s stance on the controversial anti-LGBTQ+ Bill may have influenced his replacement as Majority Leader in Parliament. Kpebu noted a conflict between Ayariga and Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin regarding the bill's status.

While the Speaker has indicated that parliamentary procedures may have been breached, suggesting the bill could be reconsidered, Ayariga maintains that the legislation has already passed and should proceed to the President for assent. Kpebu argued that Ayariga's firm position could hinder any parliamentary attempts to reconsider the bill, which has drawn significant domestic and international scrutiny.
