Mahan Air suspends flights to Turkey and Oman

Mahan Air has announced the suspension of several international flight routes due to decisions by competent aviation authorities in Turkey and Oman. The airline will halt round-trip flights between Tehran and Muscat starting September 17, 2026. Additionally, flights between Tehran and both Istanbul and Ankara will be suspended effective September 21, 2026.

These cancellations come amid broader restrictions on the Iranian aviation industry. Reports indicate that Georgia is also set to suspend all flights by Iranian airlines starting next Monday, a move reportedly linked to compliance with new U.S. sanctions.

The growing limitations on Iranian carriers pose significant challenges for travelers. Because many international airlines have already ceased direct flights to Iran, travelers often rely on transit through hubs like Turkey, Oman, or the UAE. Further restrictions on these transit routes could severely complicate travel to and from the country.
