Mahanadi Coalfields Security Inspector Arrested in Odisha Bribery Probe

On June 11 2026, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a security inspector of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) in Jharsuguda district, Odisha, after a sting operation caught him accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a fellow employee to secure a Sunday duty shift. The inspector, posted at Brajarajnagar, will be presented before a court.

Earlier in the week, Odisha Vigilance officials detained an Assistant Executive Engineer in Kandhamal district on allegations of holding assets worth crores that far exceed his known income, uncovering multiple properties, gold, and large cash holdings.
