Maharana Pratap Sports University to be built in Jaipur for ₹101 crore
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has announced the establishment of Maharana Pratap Sports University in Jaipur, a project estimated to cost approximately ₹101 crore. The announcement was made during an event at the Constitution Club in Jaipur to honor several medal-winning athletes.
As part of the state's initiative to strengthen sports infrastructure, the government has approved ₹52 crore in incentives and financial assistance for 3,540 athletes, while providing government jobs to 186 athletes. Other ongoing projects include the creation of 50 'Khelo India Centers' and a 'Center of Excellence' for athletics, archery, and boxing at Sawai Mansingh Stadium.
During the ceremony, high-profile athletes received significant cash rewards. Arundhati Choudhary, a Commonwealth Games gold medalist in boxing, was presented with ₹1 crore, and Yashveer Singh received ₹30 lakh for his achievements in javelin throw. The state is also implementing the 'Target Olympic Podium Scheme' and a 'Sports Life Insurance Scheme' to support athlete development and security.
