Maharashtra Announces Lifetime Achievement Film Awards for Hridaynath Mangeshkar and Salim Khan

The Maharashtra government announced the recipients of its 2025 V. Shantaram and Raj Kapoor cinema awards. Veteran music composer Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar was named the Chhatrapati V. Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award winner, while celebrated screenwriter Salim Khan received the Late Raj Kapoor Lifetime Achievement Award. The ceremony also honoured actor‑director Prasad Oak with the V. Shantaram Special Contribution Award and actress Rani Mukerji with the Raj Kapoor Special Contribution Award. Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar made the announcement and the Department of Cultural Affairs issued the official resolution confirming the selections. These awards, named after legendary filmmaker V. Shantaram and actor‑filmmaker Raj Kapoor, are among the state’s highest recognitions for contributions to Indian cinema across acting, music, direction, production and screenwriting.
