Maharashtra authorities seize over 500 kg of ganja and Rs 33 lakh of liquor

Police in Maharashtra seized more than 500 kg of ganja in Nashik district. A pickup van carrying 535 kg of the drug was intercepted near the Pimpalgaon toll plaza after a tip‑off, and the driver, Rahul Shantaram Patil, was arrested. The seizure also included the vehicle, a mobile phone and cash, together valued at about Rs 1.12 crore.

In Palghar district, the state excise department confiscated Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 14.84 lakh and two tempos valued at Rs 19 lakh, bringing the total value of the liquor seizure to over Rs 33 lakh. Three individuals were booked under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act as the investigation into the smuggling network continues.
