Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to relocate office to Air India building

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will shift his chief ministerial office from the historic Mantralaya building to the 23‑storey Air India building at Nariman Point in south Mumbai. The top floor will house the CM office while a 13,363‑square‑foot cabinet hall will be created on the 22nd floor.

The state government purchased the landmark tower for Rs 1,601 crore and expects to save roughly Rs 200 crore in annual rent by consolidating departments currently rented elsewhere. The Maharashtra Public Works Department, led by Minister Shivendrasinh Bhosale, has ordered a structural audit and required repairs before the move, emphasizing quality, sustainability and citizen convenience.

The relocation aims to alleviate severe space shortages at Mantralaya and to develop the building as a model government complex.
