On July 25, 2026, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and his wife Amrita attended the state‑sponsored Mahapooja of Lord Vitthal‑Rukmini at the Pandharpur temple on the auspicious Ashadhi Ekadashi. Fadnavis prayed for youth opportunities, agricultural prosperity, peace, and rainfall, and highlighted the record‑long Wari pilgrimage crowd extending over 25 km. He announced the start of work on a new temple corridor and referenced recent state measures such as farmer loan waivers and free electricity.
Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde also performed a Mahapooja at the historic Vadarla Vitthal‑Rukmini shrine, wishing prosperity and development for Mumbai. Other leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, BJP state chief Ravindra Chavan, and NCP chief Sharad Pawar, posted messages of blessings.
The dual ceremonies underscored the cultural importance of Ashadhi Ekadashi in Maharashtra and the involvement of political figures in the state’s religious traditions.
