Maharashtra CM orders forensic audit into MHT CET exam irregularities

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered a forensic audit of examination centres flagged for irregularities following a meeting with a delegation of students and teachers. The meeting addressed grievances regarding the MHT CET examination, including allegations of data leaks and unethical practices where candidates reportedly secured high percentiles through bribery.

In response to the allegations, the Chief Minister has directed the police to register First Information Reports (FIRs) and tasked the Joint Commissioner of Police with investigating the matter. The investigation aims to address claims that low-scoring candidates gained admission to top colleges by paying significant sums, while honest students were disadvantaged.

During the discussions, student representatives, including Tushar Deshmukh of the Yuva Vidyarthi Association Maharashtra, also raised broader concerns. These included issues surrounding MPSC examinations, paper leaks, police recruitment, and various other departmental recruitment processes across the state.
