Maharashtra CM to review security for Ganeshotsav festival

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is set to chair a review meeting to assess law and order preparedness for the upcoming Ganeshotsav celebrations. The festival is scheduled to run from September 14 to September 25.

The meeting, involving senior officials from the Home Department and Mumbai Police, follows a recent fatal accident in Mumbai’s Bhuleshwar area. During that incident, a massive idol of ‘Bhuleshwaracha Raja’ fell during a procession, resulting in two deaths and five injuries. Minister Ashish Shelar confirmed that police are conducting an inquiry and that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has been instructed to ensure the safety of routes used for idol arrivals and immersion processions.

In Pune, more than 200 Ganesh mandals have expressed support for a DJ-free campaign to promote traditional celebrations and avoid loud music systems during the festival.
