Maharashtra Deputy CM Shinde orders education reform in mission mode

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has directed the state education department to operate in ‘mission mode’ to modernize the school system and ensure qualitative improvements. During a four-hour review meeting with School Education Minister Dada Bhuse and senior officials, Shinde emphasized the need for a clear, comprehensive, and time-bound action plan to reach every school and student in the state.

The proposed reforms focus on preparing students for future challenges by updating school infrastructure and enhancing teacher training. Shinde highlighted that the education system must evolve alongside the changing aspirations of children, which includes involving education experts and rewarding high-performing teachers.

Beyond academics, the Deputy Chief Minister stressed a holistic approach to student development, focusing on physical, mental, intellectual, and emotional well-being. This includes regular health check-ups, nutritional oversight, and reviews of the mid-day meal scheme. Additionally, Shinde instructed the department to ensure the timely implementation of central government educational schemes and to encourage active participation from parents, alumni, and local communities in school development.
