Maharashtra expands bus and train services for Ganesh Chaturthi travel to Konkan

The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) will add 5,220 extra state‑run buses to serve the Konkan region during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. The services run from September 7 to September 25, with advance booking available online and group‑booking concessions for women, senior citizens and Amrut seniors. MSRTC officials will be stationed at major bus depots and along highways to ensure smooth operations.

Western Railway has scheduled 42 special train trips between September 11 and September 25 to handle the festival rush. The eight special services connect Mumbai, Gujarat and coastal Karnataka with Konkan destinations such as Ratnagiri, Sawantwadi Road and Thokur, providing additional capacity for thousands of travelers returning home for the celebrations.
