Maharashtra faces early post-monsoon heat, IMD warns

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that Maharashtra may experience early post-monsoon heat, with temperatures potentially rising above normal levels as early as late September.

While parts of Vidarbha, including the Nagpur region and Marathwada, may receive brief relief from rainfall through early October, temperatures are expected to climb once these showers taper off. The IMD predicts that from October 2 onward, heat will likely increase along the Konkan coast before spreading inland.

Night-time minimum temperatures are also projected to rise after October 8, which could lead to warmer nights across Vidarbha during the second and third weeks of October. In Northwest India, the acceleration of the monsoon's withdrawal may cause temperatures to rise two to four degrees above normal in certain areas.
