Maharashtra Ferris wheel accident leaves woman seriously injured
A 25-year-old woman, Bali Maroti Talikote, suffered serious injuries after her hair became trapped in a Ferris wheel mechanism during a festival in Maharashtra, India. The incident occurred on a Friday at a one-day fair connected to a nearby temple, where thousands of people had gathered.
Onlookers and police officers intervened to stop the ride and assist Talikote after her hair was pulled into a bearing behind her seat, resulting in a large portion of her scalp being torn away. She was transported to a hospital in Pusad, where her condition was reported as serious.
This event follows several other recent accidents involving fairground rides in India, including a chair swing toppling in Kerala in May, a Ferris wheel collapse in Uttar Pradesh in April, and a swing failure in Madhya Pradesh in January.
