Maharashtra government announces SIT probe into MPSC paper leak allegations

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced a Special Investigation Team (SIT) probe and the reassessment of examinations following allegations of irregularities in the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) recruitment process. Addressing a delegation of aspirants, Fadnavis stated that the government would accept demands for rechecking and investigations to ensure transparency, specifically noting that the probe into the Drug Inspector examination paper leak would be brought to its logical conclusion.

To implement systemic changes, a new panel led by senior bureaucrat V Radha will be established to recommend comprehensive reforms. This panel is expected to travel across Maharashtra to consult with students, parents, and teachers. The government also indicated it may order rechecking for Group B and Group C examinations held in 2025 and will consider publishing examination papers to address student concerns.

In Ahilyanagar, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) has also demanded a thorough investigation into the alleged paper leak. The party submitted a memorandum to the District Collector, calling for the cancellation of any appointments made through fraudulent means and emphasizing the mental stress and insecurity these irregularities cause to students from middle-class and poor families.
