Maharashtra government announces toll waiver for Konkan travelers
The Maharashtra government has announced a toll waiver for devotees traveling to the Konkan region during the Ganeshotsav festival. The exemption will be in effect from 11 September 2026 to 27 September 2026.
Public Works Minister Shivendra Singhraje Bhonsle stated that the relief applies to several major routes, including Mumbai-Bengaluru National Highway 48 and Mumbai-Goa National Highway 66. Additionally, vehicles using the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu will also benefit from the waiver. The decision aims to reduce the financial burden on travelers and ease the heavy traffic expected during the festival.
To facilitate the process, the government will issue special stickers or passes labeled ‘Ganeshotsav 2026 Konkan Darshan’. These passes, which will include the vehicle number and driver's name, will be available at police stations, traffic checkpoints, and RTO offices. The exemption also extends to Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) buses traveling to Konkan. Authorities have been instructed to coordinate closely to manage potential traffic congestion.
