Maharashtra launches digital ambulance reforms and cashless fuel cards

The Maharashtra state government has introduced a cashless PetroCard system for all 3,195 government ambulances, enabling digital, transparent fuel procurement and real‑time monitoring. The scheme was inaugurated by Public Health Minister Prakash Abitkar in Mumbai and is being implemented with HPCL.

In parallel, the Transport Ministry under Pratap Sarnik is preparing a new Maharashtra State Ambulance Policy that will link four dedicated mobile apps for citizens, drivers, ambulance equipment, and regulatory dashboards. The policy mandates GPS tracking, fixed fare lists, electronic receipts and a unified response platform to improve speed, safety and accountability of emergency medical services across the state.
