Maharashtra Minister urges industry collaboration to bridge youth skill gap
Maharashtra Skill Development Minister Mangal Prabhat Lodha has emphasized that addressing youth unemployment requires a collective social responsibility from both the government and the private sector. Speaking at an Employer Round Table in Bandra East, Lodha noted that while numerous job opportunities exist in the state, many candidates fail to secure positions due to a lack of technical skills, employability skills, and confidence.
To bridge this gap, the Skill Development Department and the Mumbai Suburban District Collectorate are encouraging industries to share vacancy information with the government. This collaboration aims to ensure that the state's youth receive the specific training required to meet industry demands.
These discussions serve as preparation for the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay 'World Record Employment Mahakumbh' (Rojgar Mahakumbh), a large-scale employment fair scheduled to take place across Maharashtra on September 29. Representatives from 32 different industries participated in the roundtable to discuss challenges and provide suggestions for the upcoming drive.
