During the ‘Maha Walkathon 2026–Walk for Water’ held in Maharashtra, state ministers emphasized the urgent need for public awareness regarding soil and water conservation.

Minister Indranil Naik noted that conservation efforts in the state are long-standing, citing the vision of former Chief Minister Sudhakar Rao Naik. He highlighted that a dedicated department was formed in the early 1990s and a corporation was established in 1999 to address these challenges. Naik warned that continuous soil erosion threatens agricultural productivity and the resources of future generations.

Minister Sanjay Rathod described soil and water as vital assets for both Maharashtra and India. He stated that conservation cannot be the responsibility of a single government department alone and requires active public participation. Rathod also called upon the youth to play a central role in the development of the region and the nation, urging them to take responsibility for their natural and historical heritage.

Additionally, Rathod addressed the ongoing legal dispute regarding the Shiv Sena election symbol, stating that the government would act in accordance with future instructions from the Supreme Court.
