Maharashtra officials inspect crop damage in Washim and Nashik

Agricultural officials in Maharashtra are addressing significant crop damage caused by irregular rainfall and drought-like conditions in the Washim and Nashik districts.

In Washim, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inspected soybean and pigeon pea (tur) crops across several talukas, including Mhasla, Mohagwan, Mangrulpir, and Jaulka. Following his assessment of the field conditions, the Chief Minister reiterated promises of government compensation for affected farmers and announced that an official notification regarding aid would be issued soon. He also emphasized the need for planning to ensure drinking water and fodder availability in the region.

In Nashik, Guardian Minister Girish Mahajan conducted inspections in various villages such as Shirwade Vani and Mangrul Phata to assess the impact on Kharif crops. Attributing the damage to irregular rainfall and El Niño effects, Mahajan instructed administrators to conduct immediate ‘panchnamas’ (official damage assessments) at the circle level. He stressed that these assessments must involve direct field inspections to ensure an objective evaluation of the actual situation rather than relying solely on paperwork, ensuring that necessary assistance can be provided based on accurate reports.
