Maharashtra plans record MPSC recruitment and exam reforms

The Maharashtra government is planning a significant increase in recruitment through the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC), with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stating that the number of available posts could break previous records. The expansion is expected to focus particularly on Group C positions.

In addition to increasing vacancies, the government is considering a return to an objective examination pattern. This decision depends on the recommendations of a high-powered committee currently reviewing MPSC reforms. The committee has been conducting hearings with students and stakeholders, who have expressed a strong demand for restoring objective formats for various services, including State Services, Agriculture, FSO, and Engineering services.

Furthermore, officials are examining whether vacant positions within local self-government institutions can be filled through a separate mechanism.
