Maharashtra launches statewide employment drive to boost global job readiness
The Maharashtra government has launched the ‘Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Rojgar Mahakumbh’, a statewide employment initiative designed to connect job seekers with employers. The drive was inaugurated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at SNDT Women’s University in Mumbai.
During the launch, Fadnavis emphasized the necessity of continuous upskilling to meet global demand, noting that more than 28 countries are currently seeking skilled manpower. He highlighted that traditional degrees must be supplemented with training in emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, and quantum computing, to ensure youth employability.
The initiative, organized under the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, also features a specialized, women-centric component at SNDT Women’s University. This segment aims to foster financial independence through career advancement, mentoring, and soft-skills training in sectors ranging from digital technology to manufacturing, logistics, and hospitality.
