Maharashtra universities launch support for drought-affected students
Universities in Maharashtra are implementing measures to support students impacted by drought conditions across the state.
Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University (SRTMUN) has announced an examination fee waiver for the Winter 2026 exams. The relief is available to regular undergraduate, postgraduate, and diploma students residing in drought-affected talukas. To qualify, students must provide proof of residence, a family income certificate showing an annual income below Rs 8 lakh, and an undertaking that they have not received other government fee reimbursements.
Separately, Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has established a dedicated task force to assist students facing academic and financial hurdles due to deficient rainfall. This task force, formed following directives from the Department of Higher and Technical Education, will coordinate with affiliated colleges to identify and address the specific needs of students in drought-hit areas, which include all 14 talukas in the Nagpur district.
