Maharashtra weather: Rain deficits expected in Vidarbha and Marathwada

Maharashtra is expected to experience uneven monsoon activity, with significant rainfall deficits projected for the Vidarbha and Marathwada regions. While weather officials anticipate increased rain in Marathwada and parts of Vidarbha around September 4 and 5, a notable dip in rainfall is expected between September 10 and 24. Marathwada has already recorded a 28% deficit, while Vidarbha stands at 24%.

A yellow alert has been issued for eastern Vidarbha, including districts such as Gadchiroli, Gondia, Hingoli, Latur, and Nanded, due to potential moderate to heavy rain and waterlogging.

In Mumbai and the Konkan region, the forecast indicates cloudy skies and intermittent showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) suggests that while overall rainfall activity across peninsular India may remain subdued, localized heavy spells and thunderstorms could still occur, potentially leading to urban waterlogging.
