Nashik, Maharashtra feels magnitude‑3.6 quake, no casualties
A shallow magnitude‑3.6 earthquake struck the Nashik district of Maharashtra on July 25‑26 2026. The tremors were felt in four talukas – Surgana, Dindori, Peath and Kallvan – causing brief panic as residents rushed outdoors.
The National Centre for Seismology located the epicentre about 44 km north‑northwest of Nashik at a depth of 5 km. No injuries or major property damage were reported, although a wall crack was noted at a government Ashramshala in Sarad. Local officials, including District Collector Ayush Prasad, ordered inspections of vulnerable structures and urged citizens to follow safety instructions.
Similar low‑intensity tremors (magnitudes 3.1‑3.6) were recorded the same day in nearby districts of Palghar and Hingoli, also without casualties. Authorities continue to monitor the situation.
