Maharlika Investment Corp and Morocco's Ithmar Capital Sign Cooperation Pact
Ithmar Capital and the Philippines' sovereign wealth fund Maharlika Investment Corporation (MIC) signed a protocol of agreement to deepen institutional cooperation. The signing was held by videoconference and was attended by Morocco's ambassador to the Philippines, Mohammed Rida El Fassi, the Philippines' ambassador to Morocco, Leslie J. Baja, and Philippine Finance Secretary Frederick D. Go. The agreement was signed by Ithmar Capital director‑general Obaid Amrane and MIC president‑CEO Rafael D. Consing Jr.
The partnership will establish a joint steering committee to monitor actions, exchange expertise on governance and fund management, and produce a synthesis report with recommendations. It aims to strengthen MIC’s institutional capacity, support its adoption of international standards such as the Santiago Principles, and reinforce bilateral relations between Morocco and the Philippines. Ithmar Capital, which currently chairs the International Forum of Sovereign Wealth Funds, will contribute its experience to help MIC progress toward higher transparency and governance standards.
