Mahathir Mohamad welcomes first great-grandchild

Former Malaysian Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife, Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, have become great-grandparents following the birth of their first great-grandchild.

The baby, a boy named Eden Zakaria Ezran Cheah, was born on August 16, 2026, at 8:48 a.m., weighing 2.9 kilograms. He is the son of Ally Mukhriz, daughter of Pejuang Party President Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, and her husband, Ezran Daud Cheah.

Ally Mukhriz shared the news via social media, expressing joy alongside her husband. The family previously shared their journey toward parenthood, which included undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments.
