Mahatma Gandhi birthday tributes held in India as Singapore honors youth for social harmony

In India, various political leaders and officials gathered to commemorate the 158th birthday of Mahatma Gandhi. Tributes were paid at the Government Museum in Egmore, Chennai, by Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Speaker J.C.D. Prabhakar and several ministers. Other ceremonies took place at the Governor's residence in Guindy and the Koyambedu bus terminus, where Chief Minister Vijay offered floral tributes.

In Singapore, Dr. Janil Puducherry, Senior Minister of State, highlighted the role of the younger generation in maintaining racial and religious harmony. Speaking at a OnePeople.sg event, he noted that youth are transitioning from mere participants to leaders in driving intercultural dialogue through initiatives like harmony conferences and digital engagement. The event also recognized 39 volunteers for their contributions to social cohesion.
