Mahdi al-Mashat defends Yemeni sovereignty and maritime safety

Mahdi al-Mashat, President of Yemen’s Supreme Political Council, delivered a speech marking the 64th anniversary of the September 26 Revolution. He addressed the ongoing conflict, asserting that military actions in the western coast and other regions are intended to defend national sovereignty and counter Saudi Arabian mobilizations.

Al-Mashat dismissed recent allegations regarding threats to Mecca as “desperate tricks” and fabrications by the Saudi regime intended to mobilize international support for its continued blockade of Yemen. He maintained that Yemeni forces are prepared to make sacrifices to protect holy sites, similar to their stance in support of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Regarding maritime security, al-Mashat emphasized that international navigation remains safe. He stated that Yemeni operations specifically target Saudi military mobilizations and are not directed at international shipping lanes. He also extended an invitation to those aligned with Saudi Arabia to return to Yemen, stating the country is open to all citizens who prioritize national interests and independence.
