MAHE museum reports record visitor growth in Elche

The Museo Arqueológico y de Historia de Elche (MAHE) has reported record-breaking visitor numbers during the August festivities. Between August 7 and 15, the museum welcomed over 2,500 visitors, a 151% increase compared to the 1,013 visitors recorded during the same period last year.

In the first half of August, total attendance reached 4,011, representing a 120% rise over the previous year. This surge is largely attributed to the temporary exhibition ‘La Huella de Dionisos’, which opened on April 10 and is scheduled to run until October 11. The exhibition has attracted over 22,000 visitors since its debut.

A collaboration between the Elche City Council and the Museo Vivanco de la Cultura del Vino, the exhibition features 48 pieces exploring the historical, religious, and cultural significance of wine. The collection includes archaeological artifacts alongside works by masters such as Picasso, Dalí, Annibale Carracci, and Andrea Mantegna, spanning from classical antiquity to contemporary art.
