Mahershala Ali discusses career and Oscars at London Film Festival

Actor Mahershala Ali participated in a Screen Talk session at the 70th BFI London Film Festival, where he discussed his career, his two Academy Awards, and his upcoming film, ‘Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother’.

Ali revealed that he keeps his Oscars for ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Green Book’ in a cabinet out of his direct sightline, noting that while the awards provided a sense of accomplishment, they did not equate to personal fulfillment. He expressed a desire to focus on his ongoing work rather than past accolades.

During the talk, Ali became emotional while reflecting on the 10th anniversary of ‘Moonlight’. He spoke about the importance of humanizing characters who are often overlooked by society. He also addressed the past controversy surrounding ‘Green Book’, stating that he stands by the work and the experience it provided him.
