Mahesh Babu backs nephew's debut and secures record trade deal for upcoming film

Superstar Mahesh Babu released a video message endorsing his nephew Jai Krishna ahead of the latter's debut film Srinivasa Mangapuram, which is set to open on July 30, 2026. In the video he praised the film’s teaser, songs and lead actress Rasha Thadani, lauded director Ajay Bhupathi and music director GV Prakash Kumar, and recalled that his own debut Rajakumarudu also released on July 30.

Trade sources report that the upcoming SS Rajamouli‑directed film Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, has attracted an asking price of about ₹150 crore for its Nizam theatrical rights. If confirmed, the valuation would surpass the previous regional record set by RRR. The film, also featuring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, is scheduled for release on April 7, 2027.
