Mahipal Lomror joins Surrey for County Championship

Mahipal Lomror, the former Rajasthan captain and ex-Royal Challengers Bengaluru all-rounder, has accepted a call-up to play for Surrey in the English County Championship. The 26-year-old middle-order batter and left-arm spinner received the unexpected offer from Surrey director of men’s cricket Alec Stewart on August 8.

To pursue this opportunity, Lomror withdrew from a scheduled trip to South Africa for a Mumbai Indians development project. He suspects the partnership between Mumbai Indians and Surrey for The Hundred may have facilitated the connection. Lomror expressed enthusiasm for the move, noting that the County Championship represents a significant opportunity to gain experience alongside senior players.

Lomror brings extensive first-class experience to the squad, having played 63 matches with 3,836 runs at an average of 42.62, including 10 centuries. His career also includes 40 IPL matches across the Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Mumbai Indians franchises.
